Pastels, Watercolors, Mixed Media
For most of my life, I wanted to be an artist and in 1999 I finally decided to pursue my desire. After taking a drawing class and then studying pastels, I was fortunate to attend the pastel conference in Santa Fe, NM, with notable artists such as, Lorenzo Chavez, Maggie Price and Doug Dawson. I then joined the local art guilds in Carbondale and Glenwood Springs and officially became an artist.
I'm still amazed that I can make a piece of paper become a picture. I especially enjoy painting clouds and trees and love the interplay of light and shadows. I love using color and trying new techniques, ideas and subject matter. And of course, I'm always striving to be better. My latest interest has been watercolor done in the abstract style. I had the privilege of studying with Marble, Colorado, artist, Connie Hendrix and found that I thoroughly enjoyed the flowing colors and freedom of expression that watercolor brings to abstract art.
My husband, family and friends are all very supportive and encouraging and their energy helps keep my creativity flowing stronger.
