Bonnie Daniels

Pastels, Oils, Watercolors

Although interested in art as a child, it wasn’t until 19 years ago, when Bonnie Daniels was introduced to the Glenwood Springs Fall Art Festival that it brought about a passion for painting. Since then, Bonnie has studied with numerous artists, including Joel Johnson, Dan Young, Doug Dawson and Kristen Johnson – all renowned professional artists and teachers. Her work has been sold nationally and internationally.

Having lived in the Glenwood Springs area since 1969, Bonnie has an abundance of beauty and history from which to draw inspiration. She enjoys painting the local scenes of the Hotel Colorado, The Doc Holiday Saloon, Hanging Lake, the Hot Springs Pool, and the Glenwood Canyon, as well as the majestic Rockies and the local wildlife and flora. The majority of Bonnie’s work is painted plein air. In addition to the beauty of Colorado, much of Bonnie’s inspiration comes from her travels. She has painted polar bears from Canada and Antarctica, lush trails and woodland animals from her hikes across Switzerland and Austria, flowers from Amsterdam and door knockers from Rome!

Bonnie has won numerous accolades and awards. She has been the recipient of the coveted Jan Worden Trophy twice, for most improved artist in the Glenwood Springs Art Guild; the Sandra Gardner Celebration of Nature Award; The Sundance Trophy, for the most promising new artist; Best of Fair at the Garfield County Fair and numerous other placements in various art exhibitions in Western Colorado. Her artwork has also been featured on the cover of the Glenwood Springs Chamber Resort Association tourist magazine. However, with all of her success, Bonnie still feels that, “as much as winning ribbons and awards are a thrill, the satisfaction of someone enjoying and buying my work is the ultimate reward”.
