Watercolor, Encaustic, Oil, Cold Wax
Watercolor, encaustic painting, cold wax and oil painting, and ceramic sculpture are all mediums that Carla Reed loves using to express her creativity. An artist for well over half a century, her favorite subjects have always been people, animals and scenes that are fanciful and colorful. She especially loves doing portraits in all mediums. Over the years Carla has enjoyed teaching watercolor to beginning and intermediate adult painters, always having fun watching her students learn to love painting and playing with different techniques and mediums as much as she does.
Carla was formally trained at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It has also been her pleasure to take many workshops and classes from several wonderful painters and sculptors across the country including Mary Whyte, Sarah Peterson, David Notor, Caroline Douglas and Lisa Clague.
Carla is a member of the Alaprima Painters in Carbondale, a group of accomplished artists, many of whom teach or have taught, and all of whom exhibit their work in and around the Roaring Fork Valley.
“I continue to learn from the amazing community of artists that live and work in this valley. Most days I can be found working in my studio in Rifle, Colorado.”
