Linda Halloran

Glass Artisan

Linda Halloran is a glass artisan who works in her studio at the base of Mount Sopris in Carbondale, Colorado.  She began working with glass ten years ago learning how to blow glass in a hot shop. Five years ago she was able to set up her own studio and make the switch to kiln glass. Linda has been selling her glass at local shows and at the Aspen Saturday Market for the past four years.

While trained as an English teacher, Linda worked for many years managing a large organic school garden and working with teenagers. For the past five years her focus has been working with glass. She studied with another local glass artist and has taken numerous workshops with nationally known artists in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

Many of Linda’s pieces are functional because of her belief that we need beauty in our everyday lives. And, some of her work is purely ornamental because she also believes that beauty can exist for its own sake. Taking inspiration from color combinations that she finds in the natural world, she uses those colors and her understanding of the interplay of color and light in glass to create her work. Linda is always exploring new techniques and ideas in her studio and teaches kiln glass to high school students in the summer.
